         Investment leadership starts at the Board. It is here that the direction of the business is set, a direction that encompasses all aspects from investment decision making to product development, from the greeting of the receptionist to the conduct of disciplinary hearings. It is for the Board to determine the philosophy of the business and to set the example of cultural and ethical tenets that characterise its environment. Failures in these areas have been expensive for some high profile businesses and in extreme cases can lead to the closure of a business. 

 

I have run a business that was potentially heavily compromised by conflicts of interest and successfully guided it through the ensuing pitfalls. I have provided the vision for a multi-talented, often self-opinionated, team of analysts to work harmoniously towards a common goal.

 

Too often business relies on its management tools as a substitute for leadership.
